The webinar will include an explanation of terminology regarding citizenship status, a snapshot of data on trends in immigration in the U.S effects of deportation process on young children traumatic stress in immigrant families' risks in the immigrant population and cultural practices that cause immigrant families to come to the attention of child protection services.

Participants will gain an understanding of experiences of immigrant families in the U.S. basic issues facing families with young children and opportunities to improve outcomes for young children of immigrant families. Resources and citations directed to human services professionals will be provided for persons wanting to gain a more thorough understanding of the population and emerging issues faced by persons new to the U.S. There will be time allotted for questions and answers with moderation provided in collaboration with the Center on Children, Families, and the Law (CCFL) and the Nebraska Department of Education. The webinar will be recorded by CCFL and made available after the training.
