Migrant Families and Young Children

The 2.5 hour webinar includes information and resources on best practices in working with migrant families with young children. Topics include terminology, challenges facing migrant families, dual language learning, special health considerations, and opportunities to ensure that young children of migrant parents receive the services and supports needed. Resources on best practices in engaging and supporting migrant families are also shared.
The webinar is presented by Ms. Connie Hayek who has 20+ years experience in the field of child welfare, early childhood, and professional development. She has worked at the local, state, and national levels in advisory and consultative capacities and is currently serving on the Promising Practices Committee with the Migration & Child Welfare National Network. Following the presentation, time was allotted for questions and answers with moderation provided in collaboration with the Center on Children, Families, and the Law (CCFL) and the Nebraska Department of Education.
