RBEI Coach Training Portal

Coaching is a collaborative learning process that is intentionally designed to promote sustainable growth in the necessary attitudes, skills and knowledge of the coachee to effectively implement best practices for the development of young children and their families.1

The RBEI Coach Training Portal is intended to supplement the Nebraska Routines-Based Early Intervention (RBEI) Coach training.  RBEI coaching is related to professional development (i.e., a means of transferring desired skills and behaviors) while also assuring fidelity to evidence-based practices.

The resources in the RBEI Coach Training Portal are intended to promote the professional development, training, and coaching of EI professionals.

Coaching Feedback and Data Loop

What is the role of the RBEI coach?

  • To use defined coaching practices to support the coachee in applying knowledge and skills to the coachee’s regular work setting.

Who may serve as an RBEI coach?

  • A local planning region team (PRT) internal coach supporting an early intervention (EI) professional, such as a services coordinator (SC) or EI provider (ECSE, SLP, OT, PT, Psych, etc.) to implement the Routines-Based Interview (RBI) or Getting Ready (GR) Approach, or write functional IFSP outcomes.
  • A state level coach supporting a PRT internal coach to encourage their use of evidence-based coaching practices with EI professionals.
  • A state or internal coach supporting EI professionals to achieve approval for, or ensure fidelity to, the RBI or GR.

What does RBEI coaching include?

  • The individualized use of six evidence-based coaching practices: relationship building, goal setting and joint action planning, observation, modeling, reflection, and feedback.
  • These coaching practices are used within a predictable structure or Coaching Agenda. Data from coach, coachee and family informs the content of the coaching interactions.2
